CHINA Hotspots
As more companies continue to strengthen their tax and treasury teams, specialists with knowledge in PRC GAAP, US GAAP and IFRS standards are needed for the accountancy and finance sector. To assist with the private equity market Financial Controllers or CFOs with experience in IPOs are also wanted as companies prepare to float on the China stock market in the next three years.
Also needed are Financial Analysts with chartered firm experience together with work experience gained within a corporate environment.
Overcoming skills shortages
Employers are willing to make the hiring process quicker and provide competitive salaries to attract and retain high calibre talent to fill roles. They are also working with consulting companies and market mapping to source suitable candidates with sought-after skills.
The coming quarter
We are expecting to see more hiring needs following Chinese New Year for both replacements and newly created positions. Employers will also fast track their recruitment processes if it means they can secure talent.
Executive recruitment
The executive level recruitment market is expected to see a slight increase in the number of positions coming onto the market as companies shift their APAC focus to China.
Employer trends
Employers are willing to shorten the recruiting process and increase salaries for highly skilled candidates, but in turn they are demanding more experience, skills and professional qualifications. Many are refreshing their employee retention plans to try and retain high performers within the company.
Candidate trends
Candidate levels will increase in the market following Chinese New Year, and as job hunting activities increase there will be more jobs openings in the market. Candidates with a background in electronic, electrical or labour intensive companies are making the jump to growing industries such as high technology, clean energy and solar, or companies that are under IPO.
Despite that, there is an overall candidate short market and good candidates are receiving more than one offer.
